22.8 acre park development in northeast San Angelo

A new park is slated to open in northeast San Angelo. Construction on the park, which is being funded with a federal CDBG loan, will include soccer and baseball practice fields, walking trails, restrooms, and a pavilion. A portion of the project will go toward lighting and road construction. When finished, the park will be a 22.8-acre green space for the public to use.

Producers Livestock Auction donated the land to the city. The land is primarily mesquite and pasture, but now it is a park for the community. Charlie Christensen, general manager of Producer’s, says the property is the perfect place to build a park. Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart

The Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart at Producer’s Park is the seat of the Catholic Diocese of San Angelo. It was founded in 1884 and named a cathedral in 1961. Wildlife observation area

The Wildlife Observation Area is a great place to spot birds and other animals. It’s located on FM 2288, which is half a mile north of the South Shore Entrance and ten miles south of the North Shore Entrance.
